Winds in excess of 75 MPH have been battering parts of Casper and central and southern Wyoming all night. In addition to the blow over risks for high profile-light weight vehicles, other hazards are popping up.

North and east of town in an area that was cleared of vegetation by a fire this last year, there is little vegetation to hold down the dirt and sand which is causing severe problems with limited visibility and a scouring of everything in the winds path.

These are also winds that are wreaking havoc with some of the bigger and weaker trees in our community. Whether they are being blown over, tipped over or broken off, a number of trees are coming down causing additional problems.

Today's high wind warning is slated to end at 11PM with winds diminishing overnight.
