With summer here, plenty of fathers will be taking plenty of sons out fishing.

Many times, it’s really not about the fish they catch, but the good times they have just spending time together. But recently in Chilliwack, British Columbia, a father and son were fishing in a river, and the day did become about the fish they caught -- because that fish was a 600-pound monster.

Nine-year-old Kegan Rothman was able to reel in a nine-foot, five-inch great white sturgeon. Kegan, along with his father Dan and a fishing guide, fought with the fish for an hour and 45 minutes before finally landing it.

The company that took the father and son into the wilderness called the successful catch “a nearly impossible feat.”
