Authorities in Casper say two people have been hospitalized after an apparent accident involving a pickup and a semi hauling livestock.

Doug Baron with the Wyoming Highway Patrol says troopers were called to the scene on U.S Highway 20/26 near Six Mile Road shortly after 3 p.m. Thursday.

“The semi truck was eastbound on U.S. 20/26 toward Casper when the pickup truck either turned left in front of it, or came across from County Road 119 into the path of the semi truck combination and was struck broadside,” Baron said.

Baron says the semi was hauling over 70 cattle, with at least one confirmed dead.

The other animals were transferred into separate trailers, to be transported to a safe location, and to be inspected by a veterinarian.

Both individuals involved in the crash were taken to Wyoming Medical Center for treatment.
