Just one day shy of the anniversary of the death of Beastie Boy Adam "MCA" Yauch, a Brooklyn park in which he played as a child was renamed in his honor.

Mayor Mike Bloomberg was on hand for the dedication as well as fellow Beastie Boy Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz and Sean Lennon, son of the late John Lennon, who out tweeted a photo of an M.C.A. memorial vehicle parked nearby (see below).

Adam's mother, Frances Yauch, was on hand to talk how her son used to ride his bike in the park, while Ad-Rock told the crowd, "Like the Wu tang clan, Beastie Boys is for the children."

Fans will also be gathering tomorrow (May 4) at the Gowanus performance space in Brooklyn for MCA Day, which pays tribute to Yauch one year to the day after his death.

This is the second MCA Day -- the first being an impromptu memorial gathering after the 47-year-old lost his battle with throat cancer in 2012.
