First, she cleaned house at the 2012 Grammys, now will Adele be adding an Oscar to her laundry list of award wins? The 24-year-old British chanteuse has been nominated for a 2013 Academy Award in the Best Original Song category for her soulful James Bond theme song 'Skyfall.'

Adele penned the Bond song with fellow Oscar nominee, Paul Epworth, who also produced her album '21' and helped co-write various songs ('Rolling in the Deep,' 'I'll Be Waiting') on the Grammy-winning record. Congrats to the dynamic songwriting duo!

Although she kept quiet most of 2012 after giving birth to her son, Adele did tease a project on Twitter in Sept. 2012. A few weeks later, the haunting ballad 'Skyfall' hit the Internet, and the looming quality behind Adele's flawless vocals and the building orchestration really gets you into that 007 / spy mindset. We haven't heard a more commanding Bond song since Shirley Bassey recorded 'Diamonds Are Forever' 40 years ago!

In addition to Adele, J. Ralph is nominated for the song 'Before My Time' from 'Chasing Ice,' while Seth Macfarlane and Walter Murphy received a nod for their 'Ted' track, 'Everybody Needs a Best Friend.' Finally, 'Pi's Lullaby' from 'Life of Pi' and 'Suddenly' from 'Les Misérables' were nominated, as well.

In addition to a 2013 Oscar nod, Adele's 'Skyfall' was also nominated against Taylor Swift's  'Safe & Sound' (among others) for a Golden Globe Award. Word on the street is that Ms. Adkins will make her first public appearance since last year at the show on Sunday, Jan. 13, so stay tuned for pictures!

The 2013 Academy Awards are set to air on Sunday, Feb. 24. To check out a full list of this year's Oscar nominations, head on over to our sister site Screencrush.
