Backstreeet Boy Nick Carter is clean and sober. The singer dishes about his substance abuse in his new memoir 'Facing the Music and Living to Talk About It.' In the book, he sorta blames socialite and famous-for-being-famous diva Paris Hilton, who is trying to reinvent herself as a DJ, for his drug problems and for being a bad influence.

"Paris was the worst person in the world for me to hook up with," Carter, now 33, mused in a book excerpt. He accused her of feeding his "worst impulses" when it came to partying while the two blondes dated from 2003 through 2004. While he's not exactly saying, "This was her fault," the implications are there. He's passing the buck of blame a bit.

Carter realized that "I could’ve ended up a tragedy," and revealed that he was pumping his bloodstream full of Ecstasy and cocaine, and that he could guzzle a bottle of vodka per night. Jeez! Sounds like Nick was a champion abuser.

While the Backstreeter -- who is recently engaged to Lauren Kitt -- has been sober for five years, he still feels the effects of having used E, saying, "The amount I did caused changes to my brain that are responsible for my bouts of depression now."

That has to suck. Hey, at least it's a cautionary tale for fans, although we doubt P. Hilt is psyched about what he said.
