A man who allegedly made trips to Colorado parts of Wyoming in the past 14 months in order to buy methamphetamine, oxycodone and marijuana to sell in the Casper area could face nearly 100 years in prison on 10 counts brought against him Monday in Natrona County Circuit Court.

Charles 'Carlos' Miller Shaw of Bar Nunn is charged with two counts of methamphetamine possession, one count of possession of oxycodone, one count of possession of marijuana, one count of possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, one count of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, one count of delivery of methamphetamine and one count of conspiracy to deliver methamphetamine.

He also faces misdemeanor counts of possession of morphine and possession of cocaine.

If found guilty on all counts, Shaw could be sentenced to imprisonment for 96 years and have to pay $137,000 in fines.

Court documents say agents with the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation were investigating a Casper-area drug trafficking group and discovered Shaw was allegedly involved.

Earlier this month, a confidential source reportedly told special agents that Shaw distributed large quantities of meth in the Casper area. The source also said they had purchased methamphetamine from Shaw.

Agents later conducted a controlled buy, allegedly obtaining 3.5 grams of methamphetamine from Shaw.

On Saturday, a second confidential source told agents they had purchased meth from Shaw at least twice. In one encounter, the source reportedly saw Shaw with four to five ounces of meth.

Special agents had learned Shaw would be going to Colorado on Friday or Saturday to buy meth, planning to return on Saturday.

Agents used unspecified techniques to conduct surveillance on Shaw, who they reportedly watched in Denver. They continued to track Shaw as he returned north on Interstate 25 toward Casper.

That same day, agents got a search warrant for Shaw's Chevrolet Silverado.

As Shaw drove back to Casper, a Wyoming Highway Patrol trooper stopped Shaw at about 7:15 p.m. after seeing Shaw's front windows had very dark tint and Shaw was unable to maintain his lane of travel, according to an affidavit.

When the trooper approached, he reportedly saw a glass pipe in plain view in Shaw's truck.

Another trooper arrived with a drug dog, which court documents say alerted to the presence of drugs in the car.

A search allegedly turned up nearly six ounces of methamphetamine, 4.5 ounces of marijuana, about half a gram of cocaine, 12 30-mg morphine pills, 19 oxycodone pills, 42 acetaminophen-oxycodone pills, a digital scale disguised as a CD case with meth residue on it and nine jewelers' bags containing methamphetamine which were held together by a rubber band and had the number "25" written on them.

Shaw spoke with agents later that night and allegedly admitted to buying meth, marijuana and oxycodone pills. He also reportedly admitted he was headed back to Casper to sell the drugs.

He allegedly told agents that since January 2016, he made numerous trips to Colorado and other parts of Wyoming to buy methamphetamine so he could redistribute it.

Shaw did not enter pleas during his initial appearance in Natrona County Circuit Court on Monday. A public defender was appointed to represent him and his bond was set at $50,000 cash or surety.
