‘Batman vs. Superman’ Rumor: Jena Malone Cast as Robin
There's a reason why people have been pretty tight-lipped with 'Batman vs. Superman' details. It seems that everyone, even the extras, face a $5 million lawsuit if they divulge anything at all. But that hasn't stopped one member of the film's background talent, who went to a local Detroit news station with some new story details, including the identity of Batman's sidekick, Robin.
The news should be taken with a grain of salt (and should be considered SPOILERS) until we hear more. This extra could have been fed nonsense and we don't want to throw 100% of our trust behind an NBC affiliate who may be using 'Batman vs Superman' rumors to get better ratings than, you know, actual local news.
The biggest piece of news to emerge from this is that Robin is in the movie and that she (yes, she) is a woman. And not just any woman, but Carrie Kelley, the Robin introduced in Frank Miller's 'The Dark Knight Returns,' which is heavily inspiring director Zack Snyder and Ben Affleck's new take on the Caped Crusader. 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' star Jena Malone was recently spotted on set, and the report from the extra is that she'll be the one to fill those red and green tights. Or red and green body armor. Or whatever they're cooking up for a costume.
The other detail isn't as huge of a revelation, but it seems to have more proper physical evidence to back it up. The production is prepping to film a scene at an art museum on the Michigan State University campus where Bruce Wayne (Affleck) will come to blows with Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor. Whether Wayne will be in costume as Batman is unknown, but the scene is said to involve extras playing military and paparazzi as well as a bunch of special effects and pyrotechnics.
Feel free to speculate further and fill in the gaps for yourself about all of this. Also feel free to speculate about how long it takes this extra to get caught and sued. Will it be before or after 'Batman vs. Superman' opens on March 25, 2016?
