Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani have become one of music’s loudest couples, and they’re about to crank up the volume even further with "Go Ahead and Break My Heart," the duet they recorded together -- a reveal made earlier this week when Gwen tweeted Blake's album track list to her 2.4 million followers.

“We finally got a mock-up of the album, what the artwork was going to look like. And we flip it over and it has all the songs. I said, ‘You know what? Take a picture of that and tweet it,’” Shelton said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. “It’ll be our way to announce that yes, we have a duet together.”

But if you think Blake was the track’s sole songwriter and Gwen just contributed vocals, you are wrong. They fully collaborated on the song "Go Ahead and Break My Heart” — something Blake says he doesn’t do very often.

“[The song] is very personal for us both because, you know, we obviously have this bond that is remarkable together,” he said. “The fact that we wrote a song together…I don’t co-write that much because I’m very insecure about it, I guess, and she's kind of got her circle of people that she writes with. But for us to reach out to each other as writers, it may never happens again. Who knows.”

If that sounds vaguely worrying — why might they never collaborate again? Was it that bad?? — it should not. Blake maintains the track is one of his best.

“I hesitate to brag on it too much,” he said. “But I really think that it’s as good of a song as I’ve ever written in my life."

Eager to hear "Go Ahead and Break My Heart"? You'll likely have to wait until Blake's album If I'm Honest drops on May 20, but let's hope for a preview before then.
