The snow soon will be gone and road construction will carry on next week.

Monday, construction crews will begin a waterline replacement project on Valley Road between 38th Street and Valcarro Road in southwest Casper, according to a news release from the City of Casper's Public Service Department.

This project will include work on South David Street from 50th to 53rd streets in south Casper, and East Eighth Street from Carriage Lane to Long Lane in east Casper.

Each street will be closed to through traffic during the work. Access will be maintained for residents. The city expects the project to be finished in August.

The cast and ductile iron lines are being replaced with PVC lines. Hydrants in the areas also will be replaced. The project is part of general city infrastructure upgrades.

Casper City Council awarded the $735,000 project to Treto Construction, LLC. The project is being funded by Optional One Cent funds, water main replacement funds generated by water usage bills, and sewer capital funds.

Meanwhile, work will begin Monday on Valley Road in Paradise Valley and continue to other sites.
