A natural gas processing facility in Casper is closing, leaving dozens of area workers without a job. Officials with Calgary, Alberta, Canada-based Enerflex Limited say increased demand for shale gas from the eastern U.S., and a decrease in coal-bed methane obtained in the Powder River Basin prompted the action.

An official with the company said about 90 workers will be impacted by the closure, along with several workers transferred to other facilities. About a dozen workers will continue at the plant during shut-down procedures. The facility has been in operation since 2006, just south of Bar Nunn.
