Police officers were on scene near the Casper Recreation Center on Tuesday after a man reportedly exposed himself to a group of children in a park.

Detective John Hatcher says officers responded at about 9:40 a.m., and were on scene within three minutes of dispatch receiving the call. However, the incident took place roughly half an hour before police were called.

No adult witnessed the alleged exposure.

Children told officers that a man and woman were walking dogs near a park south of the recreation center when the man exposed himself. They described the man as 5'11" tall, weighing 200 pounds and wearing a black shirt with black shorts.

Police searched the area, but couldn't find a suspect.

"We encourage people to contact the Casper Police Department as soon as possible any time something like this happens so we can begin our investigation quickly," Hatcher said.

The detective added that parents or guardians should talk to their children and make sure they know to tell a trusted adult immediately about any such incident. That way, the adult can rapidly report the crime to police.
