When I learned that I would have to be to work at 6:00am the morning of the American Idol auditions, I wasn't particularly surprised - I do after all work for a group of radio stations who have a tendency to

show up for early morning and late night events. With that in mind, I have to admit that I was a little surprised by how many people were already at Fort Caspar when I showed up. The line ran practically from the fort itself all the way to Wyoming Boulevard.

After speaking with quite a few of the contestants, it became obvious that the prospect of getting on American Idol appeals not only to the loud and overt among us, but also to the shy and timid folks in our community. That said, I have been shocked at the level of talent that we've seen so far today. Who knew that we had so many amazing singers in little old Casper, Wyoming?
