Courtesy of our friends at, here's a few cool cocktails to get you and yours in the holiday spirit.  Or spirits, as the case may be.  Rather than just providing the usual or having people do the BYOB routine - why not create a theme around your holiday drinks?  Sounds good to us.  Read on for recipes:

It should be noted that has over 60 different recipe ideas with a Christmas theme, but we enjoyed the ones below the most.  Another great suggestion was to set up a table with the various ingredients for the drinks with small recipe cards and the appropriate glasses - so everyone can be their own bartender.  (Hey, less work for you!)

1 dollop of whipped cream

1 egg white

1 ounce of gin

1/2 ounce of lemon juice

1/2 ounce of maraschino

Shake all ingredients (except whipped cream) with ice and strain into a cocktail glass.  Top with whipped cream and serve.

1 ounce cognac

1 ounce Cointreau

1 ounce lemon juice

1.5 ounces rum

Shake over ice, pour into cocktail glass, garnish with orange peel.  Done.

3 cups apple juice

1.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon

3 sticks cinnamon

3/4 teaspoon ground cloves

6 cups cranberry juice

3/4 cup maple syrup

3/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

3 cups orange juice

2 teaspoons powdered sugar

Combine all the ingredients in a very large heavy pan, except the cinnamon sticks.  Bring to boil, turn to simmer for a few minutes.  You can put the ingredients in a crockpot after it has boiled, and keep warm over low heat.

Enjoy your holiday responsibly and get a designated driver!
