As of this morning, Denver Nuggets head coach Brian Shaw has been fired. This was Shaw first job as a head coach after having an impressive NBA career as a player and an assistant coach.

With all the positive behind him, including two championship titles as a player with the Los Angeles Lakers and helping to lead the Indiana Pacers to the playoffs as his tenure as assistant head coach during the 2003-2004 season, one can only wonder why this success did not carry over to Denver. Some have speculated the players just didn't like him. Shaw replaced George Karl who had previously lead the Nuggets to 8-straight seasons in the Western Division playoffs.

This is has been the Nuggets worst season in over a decade. Melvin Hunt has been named the interim head coach. Hunt has been serving as assistant head coach for Denver the last five years. His first game as head coach will be tonight (March 3rd, 2015) at 7:00 pm (MST) as the Nuggets faces off against Milwaukee.
