Natrona County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man for holding his estranged wife against her will on Sunday, according to an affidavit filed with Natrona County Circuit Court.

Zachary Wertz was charged with one count of false imprisonment, and probably will hear the charge against him during preliminary hearings in circuit court this afternoon.

Depuities responded to a report about a disturbance at a residence on Harvey Place, where the woman, who is divorcing Wertz, was removing her belongings.

The person reporting the incident said Wertz went into her bedroom carrying a baseball bat.

By the time deputies arrived, however, Wertz had left the residence, spoke to a deputy and was placed in a patrol car.

According to the woman, her mother-in-law had come to the residence and was yelling at her. She took her 12-year-old cousin into the bedroom. Wertz forced his way inside and the cousin left.

He demanded his wife talk to him, she refused and tried to leave through a window. Her aunt came into the residence and told Wertz she would spray him with pepper spray if he didn't leave. Wertz then left.

Wertz told deputies he took the baseball bat into the residence because he didn't know who was there, and left it in the living room. He approached the woman in the room and wanted to hug her, but she pushed him away.
