One of the hardest working directors in all of mainstream Hollywood definitely is Martin Scorsese. There’s been a lot of debate on which project Scorsese would take on next, especially since he’s been rumored to be attached to a few different projects, but he finally picked his next movie.

A couple of months ago it was reported that Martin Scorsese would possibly direct ‘The Wolf of Wall Street,’ based off the memoir written by Jordan Belfort, with Leonardo DiCaprio in the starring role. All has been quiet on this project until today when Deadline confirmed that this will be his next project. The script is adapted by Terence Winter (‘Boardwalk Empire’).

In ‘Wolf of Wall Street,’ the story centers on Belfort’s dramatic rise and fall on Wall Street, along with his hard-partying lifestyle and tumultuous personal life, which included drug and alcohol addiction. Producing the film is Riza Aziz, Joey McFarland under Red Granite Pictures along with DiCaprio under his Appian Way banner. Other producers on the project include Scorsese, Emma Koskoff and Alexandra Milchan.

This is the first time in awhile that Martin Scorsese is tackling a picture that is based off of a true story. The last time he did one of those movies it was ‘The Aviator,’ but since this story line is a bit darker this sounds like it’s something around the ‘Casino’ and ‘Goodfellas’ wheelhouse. Bring it on!
