After impersonating Lil Wayne and flipping the bird to his ex, Drake also talked about his appreciation for Aaliyah with London radio personality Tim Westwood. It’s no secret that Drizzy admires the late songbird who passed away at the age of 22. So much so that he has a tattoo of Aaliyah’s face on his back.

While he never got an opportunity to perform with her, the ‘Take Care’ artist did hint that a posthumous duet is being planned. “I have some great Aaliyah news coming soon,” he teases. “Some special things.”

When Westwood pressed further and asked if it had to do with a rumored posthumous album project, Drake would only answered, “Just some special things. Just great things for music, period.”

Drake then explained why Aaliyah’s music has such an incredible hold on him. “I think more than anything Aaliyah always made music that was never uncomfortable for me to listen to,” he said. “You know it’s hard for me to ride around to a female singer because at the end of the day, you’re a man, but she always kept it so G with the writing and the melodies. It was something to ride to, especially when it was chopped and screwed. That’s when I used to love Aaliyah the most.”

If this Drake and Aaliyah collaboration does come to fruition, it would be very special and something that fans are eager to hear on a tribute album.
