Federal Grand Jury Indicts Adarus Greenway
A federal grand jury indicted a Casper man last week for firearms crimes, according to court records.
Adarus William Greenway is charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm, and using and carrying a firearm during the commission of a federal drug trafficking crime, according to the indictment filed in U.S. District Court in Cheyenne.
The federal indictment marks the next phase of a case that began in mid-March when Greenway and three others were arrested after a burglary of a residence on Pennsylvania Street.
Missing items included a Glock Model 23 pistol, prescription medicines, several computers, checkbooks and watches, according to affidavits filed with Natrona County Circuit Court.
Police later arrested these defendants including Greenway and an unidentified juvenile in Casper. Greenway was charged with aggravated burglary and conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary. His bond then was set at $100,000.
He pleaded not guilty to these charges in May.
On July 16, Natrona County District Court Judge Catherine Wilking granted Assistant District Attorney Stephanie Hambrick's motion to dismiss the case because of the pending federal charges.
The federal indictment states Greenway, who already had a felony record, possessed a Taurus PT740, 40-caliber pistol, and a Glock 23, .40-caliber pistol. If convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison.
In the second count, Greenway used and carried a firearm while possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute. If convicted on the first count and then the second count, he faces at least five years to life imprisonment consecutive to the first count.
