In an effort to increase awareness about cancer, and encourage early detection and intervention, Rocky Mountain Oncology and the Wyoming Foundation for Cancer Care have begun offering free screenings throughout the year.  The majority of them have been held at RMOC; however, in order to reach a larger audience, we are expanding the program, and offering our next screening in conjunction with the Central Wyoming Fair & Rodeo.

Date: Thursday, July 12th

Time: 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Venue(s): Old Pioneer Church at the Fairgrounds + mobile “clinics” set up in motor homes, toy haulers and tents

Screenings offered include Breast, Prostate, Skin and Oral/Head & Neck

Also . . . Bonfils Blood Center is partnering with us to conduct a bone marrow donor drive.

Massage therapists will be on hand doing free head & neck massage. There will be acupuncture demonstrations from 10 – 1:00; and free lymphedema screenings all day.

The Wyoming Foundation for Cancer Care will also be issuing vouchers for free mammograms, to individuals who meet the appropriate criteria, through a grant from the Susan G. Komen/GE Wyoming Women First initiative.

Rocky Mountain Oncology will offer the screenings to the participants in the fair and rodeo (cowboys/cowgirls, 4-Hers, etc.); as well as to the general public.  They believe these checks will be of tremendous value, especially given the prevalence of tobacco use and sun exposure amongst this population; and also the lack of access to medical services and facilities in rural areas, which means they delay or avoid going to the doctor.

Healthcare providers and their staff members from throughout the community are donating their time to conduct exams and assist with the program.
