While Casper has enjoyed a recent influx of events to keep you busy on your off time, it's important to note that place like Ft. Caspar have always given you and your family some fantastic workshops and exhibits to help you know about the history of Casper.

A lot of us take for granted places like Ft. Caspar, usually only attending when we are on a field trip for school. Now is a great time to revisit the museum, while enjoying some fantastic photos that will take you on trip through time. Check out the press release below, and take this opportunity to get to know your home town!

Casper, Wyoming –   Fort Caspar Museum is hosting a photography exhibit on the oil and gas industry in Wyoming entitled “Please Give Us One More Boom.”  Organized by the University of Wyoming’s American Heritage Center, it will be on view through October 11th.  In conjunction with the exhibit, the Museum will have both a workshop and a lecture.

Families will enjoy the Museum’s September “Fremont Family Funday” hands-on workshop. Participants can learn about the many different products that are made from oil (some will surprise you!) as well as make small oil derricks out of pipe cleaners and try “drilling” for oil.  Drop in between 1:00 and 3:00pm; no reservations are required, and all supplies will be provided.  This program is open to all ages and is free with museum admission.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.

On Saturday, October 4th, the curator of “Please Give Us One More Boom,” Leslie Waggener, will present a talk on the topic of her exhibit for our “Fall Lunch and Learn” program.  Join us at 12:00 pm for the optional lunch (with a reservation), or you may just enjoy the lecture which will begin at 1:00 pm.  The cost for the buffet-style lunch of fried chicken is $5 for Fort Caspar Museum Association members and $8 for non-members, payable at the door.  Lunch reservations must be received by Thursday, October 2nd.   The lecture is free with the paid lunch or free with paid Museum admission ($1.50 for adults).

Fort Caspar Museum’s hours in September are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm daily, and admission prices are $3 for adults, $2 for youth (ages 13-18 years), FREE for children (12 years and younger) and for Museum members.  In October, our hours change to Tuesdays through Saturdays from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and admission prices drop to $1.50 for adults, $1 for youth (ages 13-18 years), FREE for children (12 years and younger) and for Museum members.
