A man sought by the U.S. Marshals Service was arrested east of Casper on Monday after a search involving the Natrona County Sheriff's Office and its Special Response Team.

Stuart Harwood, 48, was arrested after he was found in a ditch. Despite authorities initially having received information that Harwood was armed, no weapon was found on his person at the time of his arrest.

Natrona County Sheriff Gus Holbrook told reporters on Tuesday that deputies and the Special Response Team were dispatched to the area of the Lazy 8 Bar on Highway 20-26 after receiving information that Harwood was inside a house in the area. However, Holbrook said, no one had actually seen Harwood enter the house.

A search of the area was unsuccessful. Law enforcement cleared the area shortly before 5 p.m.

As they returned to Casper, law enforcement sighted Harwood as he stood up in a ditch near C & Y Transportation. He was arrested, Holbrook said, by the deputy who first responded to the initial call.

Harwood was wanted on a warrant for revocation of his federal probation. A call seeking further details from the U.S. Marshals Service was not immediately returned Tuesday morning.

A car crash resulted near the Lazy 8 Bar, Holbrook said, because at least one driver was paying more attention to the law enforcement action than the road. No injuries were reported in connection with that crash.
