A 9-year-old girl who was critically injured in a rollover accident north of Bar Nunn earlier this month continues to get better, Natrona County Sheriff's Sgt. Aaron Shatto said Wednesday.

The girl is talking now, Shatto said.

Last week, she was upgraded to stable condition from critical condition.

The girl was among three juveniles who were in a sport utility vehicle traveling west on a two-track road north of Bar Nunn and about a mile east of Interstate 25 about 10:15 a.m. Aug. 8. The vehicle rolled and came to rest right-side up facing northeast.

They did not have permission to be in the SUV, and a 13-year-old girl was driving. The driver and another passenger were injured and treated at the Wyoming Medical Center, but the 9-year-old was taken by air ambulance to a Denver hospital.

Meanwhile, the Sheriff's Office has completed its forensic investigation of the SUV. It found no mechanical problems that could have contributed to the crash, Shatto said.

Charges may be pending in the accident, he said.
