Halsey to Overeager Fans: ‘Please Don’t Be Mean To Me!’

Halsey's fans are dedicated — to the point where they're starting to get a little too aggressive online with their demands, according to the "New Americana" singer herself.

While stepping outside the BBC Radio 1 building into a throng of eager fans and paparazzi, the singer stopped in her tracks to address the crowd directly.

"I'm getting a lot of really rude messages right now from people saying that I'm f--ked up and that I swerved you and I'm being rude and I'm being mean," she said.

"Not for nothing, but I've been in press since 8 o'clock in the morning. I have a whole day of interviews to do. I'm still doing them. I would never just walk by you and not meet you. To abuse me like that online is kind of f--ked up. I have a lot more interviews to do and I promise I'm going to meet people. But please don't be mean to me. I have a very busy day too, okay? It really makes me upset. Please don't be mean to me."

Consider this an awkward adjustment to fame in the age of social media: While no one should be telling anybody they're 'f--ked up' as a general rule of #PromoteOnlineKindness, stan culture will be stan culture, and those fans (and trolls!) will only become more breathlessly, intensely devoted as time goes on.

And while we know Halsey's made it a point to maintain an intimate online relationship with fans well before her major label debut, it would probably serve her emotional health best to simply log out more often. And her fans too, for that matter.

Actually, everyone would benefit from logging out of Twitter more often. Seriously.
