Wind gusts of 55-65 mph are expected until 5 p.m. Monday in Casper and most of Natrona County, as well as portions of nine other Wyoming counties.

Sustained winds of 25-40 mph are predicted for the area, according to a high wind warning from the National Weather Service in Riverton.

A gust of 68 mph was recorded on Outer Drive, on the south side of Casper, at 3:45 a.m. Monday.

Interstate 25 from the Colorado State Line to US 18/20 is closed to light, high-profile vehicles. WYDOT reports dangerous winds and extreme blow over risk on that stretch of interstate.

Interstate 80 from Cheyenne to WY 72 is also closed to light, high-profile vehicles. The same advisories were in effect as of 10:30 a.m.

WY 487 from Medicine Bow to WY 220 is also subject to an extreme blow over risk, though no closures are in effect.

The NWS says sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts of 58 mph or greater can lead to property damage.
