Just behind Ghost Town Truck Stop a fire started at WL Plastics, a company that manufactures poly pipe to be used in oilfield applications. Last night at about 12 AM a fire started in the yard that quickly spread from one pile of pipe to the next, quickly consuming what is estimated as millions of pounds of poly pipe, sending flames and thick black smoke high into the air.

Natrona County Fire has been on site since the fire started and Lieutenant Stu Anderson, Natrona County Emergency Manager, describes the scene this morning,

The fire had knocked out power to over 750 customers, including the airport, and it appears that much of that service has been restored at this time. The area had also been evacuated as the fumes coming off the burning plastics are hazardous but with better control of the fire, area businesses are able to access their locations at this time.

Updates to follow as we have them.
