Spc. Colton Sasser, a Casper hometown Hero will be coming home on November 19, 2012, at 12:20 pm. He will be arriving at the Natrona County International Airport.

Spc. Sasser was serving in Afghanistan with the 4th Infantry Division, the same unit his father had served in in Viet Nam. On April 15th, 2012, Spc. Sasser and his unit were called on to escort a convoy of trucks through a mountain valley. Spc. Sasser took the wheel of a Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Armored Vehicle. The armored vehicle hit a 200 pound IED, a bomb so powerful it left a 12 by 19 foot crater in the road. Spc. Sasser suffered severe injuries to his legs and back, and numerous other injuries. His squad leader, riding shotgun, was killed and the vehicle gunner received serious injuries. Since returning to the States, Spc. Sasser has been in Walter Reed Hospital and in the re-hab hospital in San Antonio, Tx.

This is a call to action to help welcome this young man back home. His family has requested the presence of the Patriot Guard Riders at his arrival, and, weather permitting, for the PGR to conduct an escort from the airport to the family home. The route is expected to be from the airport East on Yellowstone and 1st street to Beverly, south on Beverly to 12th street, East on 12th to Stafford and then to the family home.

The people of Casper are asked to join in the welcome at the airport or to gather along the route during the day on Monday to welcome Colton home.
