Jermaine Paul was chosen as the winner of Season 2 of ‘The Voice.’ While his coach Blake Shelton came in second last year with Dia Frampton, he is a bridesmaid no more. He and Jermaine Paul deserved this win!

Paul was visibly overwhelmed and overcome with emotion, thanking his family, his kids, his mother-in-law and Jesus in a tear-filled speech. Shelton was beyond stoked for his teammate, saying, “You did it! You did it!” while hugging him on stage. We admit, we were rooting for Paul during the final minutes. Carson Daly had revealed that only four percentage points separated Paul from the runner up, rocker Juliet Simms.

For his final performance on ‘The Voice’ stage, he sang R. Kelly‘s ‘I Believe I Can Fly’ for the second time, hugging is wife and all of his friends and family on the confetti-filled stage. It is the mark of true performer when he can sing his butt off while being overly emotional. Again, one of the reasons he deserved to win.

Paul is no longer an Alicia Keys back up singer! He is the winner of Season 2 of ‘The Voice,’ taking the crown from Javier Colon, as he steps into the forefront.

Congrats Jermaine!

Best of luck to the other runners up: Chris Mann and Tony Lucca.
