We like Canada, and we definitely love Canadians (even if we're a little bitter about their universal health care and lack of gun violence). But here's the thing: Canadians are definitely weird.

Turns out they're all related. Everybody. All of them. Apparently Canada had an Adam and Eve and all its citizens, most especially its superstars, are descended from those two.

Don’t ask us how.

Okay, so maybe we're exaggerating a tad. But researchers at Ancestry.com did figure out that Justin Bieber is a distant cousin of Celine Dion, Avril Lavigne and Ryan Gosling.

They’ve traced all of those celebs back to a few natives of France who emigrated to Quebec in the early 1600s. Bieber, Gosling and Lavigne all share relatives Mathurin Roy and Marguerite Bire, with Gosling being an 11th cousin to Bieber and Lavigne a 12th.

His connection to Celine Dion is from a different line that contains French couple Jacques Vezina and Marie Boisdon. Dion and Bieber are 10th cousins three times removed. (This part makes sense. It explains his celebrity annoyance factor.)

The take-away: Justin needs to be careful when he serenades concert-goers with ‘Boyfriend,' at least when he’s in his homeland. He just might be related to someone in the audience.
