Lady Gaga- Born This Way [OFFICIAL AUDIO]
Lady Gaga has been as anxious for her new single, ‘Born This Way,’ to drop as we have — and after weeks of teasers and unmatched anticipation — it’s finally here.
Opening with a message (“It doesn’t matter if you love him or capital H-I-M / Just put your paws up, because you were born this way, baby”), the song then drops into a torrent of synth beats over melodic organ loops — bringing us back to the dance driven melodies of Madonna’s ‘Vogue,’ especially her sung/spoken, “Don’t be a drag, be a queen” line.
The spoken words are most apparent in the bridge of the song, where Gaga emphasizes that we must love who we are despite different skin colors, disabilities and sexual orientation variations — which shows the world that this music idol hits all the notes and wants her ‘little monsters’ to live with open arms:
“Don’t be a drag, be a queen/ Whether you’re broke or evergreen/ You’re black, white, beige, chola descent/ You’re Lebanese, You’re Orient/ Whether life’s disabilities/ Left you outcast, bullied or teased/ Rejoice and love yourself today/ ‘Cause baby you were born this way.”
She then continues, but this time singing in first person: “No matter gay, straight, or bi/ Lesbian, transgendered life/ I’m on the right track baby/ I was born to survive/ No matter black, white or beige/ Chola or Orient made/ I’m on the right track baby/ I was born to be brave.”
Gaga revealed the single cover art — a cryptic black and white photo of herself sporting horns — on her Twitter page, a day after she announced the song’s drop date: “Can’t wait any longer, single coming Friday.”
The club infused track was written and co-produced by Gaga. Fernando Garibay and DJ White Shadow co-produced the track with Gaga — who, undoubtedly wrote the song. ‘Born This Way’ is featured on her third studio album of the same name — in stores this May.
Have a listen and let us know, are you goo-goo for the new Gaga?
