The Casper Police Department and the Natrona County Sheriff's Office are looking for volunteers to work with their Victim Response Units, according to a news release.

This may be a good opportunity for those wanting to be professionally trained crisis first responders, and for those with time to give back to the community and have a strong desire to help those in need.

First responders will be required to respond to crimes of domestic violence, sexual assaults, robberies, homicides, suicides, natural deaths, accidents and other calls with victims needing emotional and physical support.

Candidates must complete an application, pass a full background investigation and an oral interview, and complete 40 hours of training.

The training includes online course work that must be completed by April 2.

It also requires the completion of 12 hours of class time for victim advocacy that will be held at the Hall of Justice on March 23-24.

Applications are available at the Sheriff's Office and Casper Police Department at the Hall of Justice, 201 N. David St. Completed applications must be returned by Feb. 28.

For more information, call the Casper Police Department's victim witness coordinator Leslie Fritzler at 235-8347, or Dalene Asmus at the Natrona County Sheriff's Office at 235-9338.
