As any seasoned basketball analyst might observe, Katy Perry's and One Direction's fanbases are on fire. But which will advance to PopCrush's March Music Madness semi-finals?

As part of our latest tournament, we're aiming to find out which big pop act has the most avowed followers, and so far, springtime has brought fans out of the woodwork. Glamberts trounced 5SOSFAM, Lovatics knocked out Selenators and Britney's Army took down Rihanna's Navy decisively. In the here and now, though, we've got our sights squarely set on two of the game's heaviest-hitters: Katycats and Directioners. Where will you place your bets?

In the first round of the contest, the Prism-obsessed set edged out Ariana Grande's Arianators by a 52.39 percent to 47.61 percent margin. Grande loyalists flooded our Twitter mentions and Facebook comments with shouts of support, but they ultimately proved to be no match for Perry's "Unconditional" proponents. Will KatyCats stay hot and push her through, or suddenly go cold?

Directioners defeated Justin Bieber's Beliebers in what proved to be a similarly close call: 52.36 percent to 47.64 percent. 1D may be on a hiatus, but they still brought the heat in the battle's first round. The question is, can they keep the momentum going?
