Casper police have released new details as they continue to investigate a shooting that sent one person to the hospital early Monday.

The victim, whose name has not been released, is a 27-year-old white male who lives in the 1700 block of S. Washington, where the shooting occurred.

He is expected to make a full recovery, police say.

As previously reported, the man suspected of shooting the victim is in custody. There is no further threat to the community in connection with Monday's shooting.

Someone called police to report the shooting at about 1:40 a.m. Monday.

The suspect was taken into custody shortly after officers arrived at the scene. He was not at the house when officers found him, but was nearby.

Police have confirmed that the suspect is a man, but have not released any other details about the alleged shooter's identity.

Police said Monday that investigators were unsure whether both men were inside the home at the time of the shooting.

No details on whether the two men knew each other or what may have precipitated the shooting have been released.

The investigation continues. Meanwhile, criminal charges are being reviewed by the Natrona County District Attorney's Office.

Police do not expect to release further information on Monday.
