Congrats to One Direction! The U.K. heartthrobs are being honored for their massive success. In less than a year’s time, they’ve sold 12 million copies of their singles, albums and DVDs.

In under 365 days, 1D, by the numbers, sold over 8 million singles, 3 million albums and 1 million DVDs. Syco and Sony Music U.K. presented the band with special discs commemorating their accomplishment, which doesn’t even include their massive ticket sales for their sold out tours.

The group’s debut album ‘Up All Night’ sold over 3 million copies worldwide and topped the charts in an insane 16 different countries, including the U.S. where they became the first ever U.K. band to debut at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard chart — not even the Beatles nor the Rolling Stones did that! What’s more, the record is, so far, the top selling debut album of 2012 in the U.S.

‘What Makes You Beautiful,’ 1D’s triumphant and infectious debut single, sold over 3 million copies in the U.S. and 5 million worldwide. Their live DVD went triple Platinum in the states and double Platinum in their native U.K., making it the biggest selling music DVD of the year.

Liam Payne said in a statement, “We are obviously ecstatic and incredibly humbled by our award today. We have an incredible team of people around us who have helped us achieve this and above all we would like to thank our fans,” he added. “We owe all our success to them.”

One Direction aren’t stopping there, though. 1D will perform at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sept. 6 and are nominated for Best Pop Act and Best Pop Video. This is in addition to the surfboards they snagged at the 2012 Teen Choice Awards for Choice Music Breakout Group, Choice Music Star Group and Choice Summer Song for ‘What Makes You Beautiful.’ They’re working on their sophomore effort and gearing up for a world tour in 2013 — that is, predictably, sold out. It’s no surprise considering they set the record for the speediest sell out of Madison Square Garden ever!

Congrats to the Brit boys on their triumph. Now hurry up and release some new songs for your Directioners!
