Rocky Mountain Power plans to disrupt power to customers in the downtown Douglas area Tuesday night in order to conduct maintenance.

Spokesman Dave Eskelsen says the goal is to keep the length of the power outage to a minimum. The outage is set to begin at 10 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30 and should last roughly 30 minutes.

Eskelsen says the outage is necessary for workers to replace a bad piece of equipment at a substation.

The plan is for the circuit to be opened just long enough for workers to remove the old gear -- the circuit will then be re-energized, and the new equipment will be installed once the power outage is over.

Eskelsen says the time was chosen after Rocky Mountain Power consulted with customers who will be impacted, particularly local restaurants.
