UNDATED (AP) — Clay Buchholz (BUHK'-ohlts) chilled the Yankees' bats, speedy Jackie Bradley Jr. got his first major league hit and the Boston Red Sox beat New York 7-4 on a cold Wednesday night to open a season with consecutive wins for the first time since 1999.

Pitcher Hiroki Kuroda (hih-ROH'-kee kuh-ROH'-duh) became the latest Yankees player to get hurt. He suffered a bruised middle finger on his pitching hand after getting hit by a line drive in the second inning.

The Red Sox under new manager John Farrell are off to their best start since going 5-0 in 1999. Meanwhile, the Yanks are 0-2 after being outscored 15-6 and outhit 26-15 in their two losses to Boston.

In other baseball action:

— Cliff Pennington's single in the 16th inning brought home Jason Kubel from second to give the Arizona Diamondbacks a 10-9 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals in a game that didn't end until early this morning in Phoenix.

— Alexi Ogando and four Texas relievers shut out the Astros again, combining for a five-hitter in the Rangers' 4-0 win over Houston. The victory came a day after the Rangers Yu Darvish came within one out of pitching a perfect game against the Astros.

__ The Washington Nationals have thrown back-to-back shutouts as well. Gio Gonzalez homered and pitched six scoreless innings in the Nats' 3-0 victory over Miami.

Justin Upton, Jason Heyward and rookie Evan Gattis homered, helping Paul Maholm and the Atlanta Braves beat the Philadelphia Phillies 9-2.

— Tim Lincecum (LINZ'-ih-kuhm) walked seven, matching a career worst, yet still managed to get the win when Pablo Sandoval and Hunter Pence homered to lead the San Francisco Giants to a 5-3 victory over the L.A. Dodgers.

— Jed Lowrie and Chris Young hit back-to-back home runs in the seventh inning, helping Tommy Milone and the Oakland Athletics beat the Seattle Mariners 6-2.

— Wilin Rosario, Michael Cuddyer (kuh-DY'-ur) and Dexter Fowler homered to lift the Colorado Rockies over the Milwaukee Brewers 7-3. Juan Nicasio (nee-KAH'-see-oh) pitched six effective innings for his first victory in almost a year.

—Wandy Rodriguez allowed just two hits over 6 2/3 innings and the Pittsburgh Pirates edged the Chicago Cubs 3-0 for their first win of the year.

—Lucas Duda hit the first of the Mets' three homers in a whipping wind and New York beat the San Diego Padres 8-4. Matt Harvey allowed one hit and struck out 10 in seven scoreless innings for his first win at Citi Field.

— Mark Reynolds hit a tiebreaking home run in the 11th inning and the Cleveland Indians beat the Toronto Blue Jays 3-2.

— Matt Joyce led off the bottom of the ninth inning with a towering home run against Tommy Hunter, giving the Tampa Bay Rays an 8-7 victory over Baltimore.

— Adam Dunn hit one of four Chicago homers as the White Sox beat Kansas City 5-2. Tyler Flowers, Dayan Viciedo and Alexi Ramirez also connected, and the White Sox made it two straight wins to start the season after dropping 12 of 18 to Kansas City a year ago.

— Eduardo Escobar's two-run double with one out in the ninth inning lifted the Minnesota Twins to a 3-2 victory over the Detroit Tigers.

— Brandon Phillips hit a three-run homer in his new role as Cincinnati's cleanup hitter, and Joey Votto drove in the winning run with a ninth-inning single, rallying the Reds to a 5-4 victory over the Los Angeles Angels.

CINCINNATI (AP) — Reds outfielder Ryan Ludwick is expected to miss at least three months following surgery to repair torn cartilage in his right shoulder.

He dislocated his non-throwing shoulder while sliding into third base in Cincinnati's opening day loss to the Los Angeles Angels on Monday. An MRI a day later found the cartilage tear.
