The Wyoming Department of Transportation is testing the effectiveness of nighttime speed limit reductions. They want to know if slowing drivers down at night will reduce the number of automobile accidents with wildlife. WYDOT is testing the nighttime speed limits in areas that historically have had a high number of animal auto accidents, and they are only testing at specific times.

They first need a base study where they gather data about a particular area with the normal speed limit in place. They look at the drivers' actions and the behavior of the animals as it relates to the road. WYDOT has uses of both road cams and infrared cameras to observe these interactions.

Then they install the nighttime speed limit and collect the same data again. Next, they compare the data and draw results. What do you think? Will it work? Take our poll.
