After receiving some judgment for seemingly styling their character of the devil after President Barack Obama, people behind the History Channel's mini-series 'The Bible' are denying any similarities between the leader of the free world and their depiction of Satan.

The network released a statement from executive producers Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, which claimed:

History channel has the highest respect for President Obama. The series was produced with an international and diverse cast of respected actors. It's unfortunate that anyone made this false connection. History’s 'The Bible' is meant to enlighten people on its rich stories and deep history.

This is utter nonsense. The actor who played Satan, Mehdi Ouzaani, is a highly acclaimed Moroccan actor. He has previously played parts in several Biblical epics -- including Satanic characters long before Barack Obama was elected as our president.

Both Mark and I have nothing but respect and love our President, who is a fellow Christian. False statements such as these are just designed as a foolish distraction to try and discredit the beauty of the story of 'The Bible.'

As explained in the statement, Ouzaani previously starred in religious works such as 'David,' 'Jeremiah,'  'In the Beginning' and 'The Ten Commandments.' It should be noted that even though the actor played demonic figures, none of them looked like our president.

Regardless of whether Azazel was meant to look like Obama or not, this is still the best publicity 'The Bible' could have hoped for -- even if much of it has come from noted loon Glenn Beck.
