Now that videos of non-coordinated people dancing wildly to the song Harlem Shake by trap DJ, Baauer have gone viral, the history of the actual Harlem Shake dance have been lost. As a former New Yorker myself (Brooklyn Baby!!!), I felt it only right I show the correct version of the dance that found it's origin in NYC circa 1981. It grew to widespread prominence during the late to mid 90's amongst the 'Golden Age' of Hip-Hop. Artist such as Sean 'Piddy' Combs, who back then went by Puff Daddy, and other Harlemites such as Cam'ron, Ma$e and the Harlem Diplomats helped bring the dance to nationwide popularity around the same time.

Here's to the original always being the best!!!
