No matter how much George Lucas would like to have this removed from our minds (and the internet), the Stars Wars Holiday Special still exists.

Despite staring the bulk of the original cast, this may be one of the worst televisions specials (not just Star Wars related) ever! It aired one time on November 17th, 1978 in it's entirety. It's very strange for a myriad of different reasons, including:

  1. There are no subtitles through the 10-minute introduction of Chewbacca's family... which is all in Wookie!
  2. There's a semi-sexual virtual-reality scene with Diahann Carroll that last way too long.
  3. There's a scene in a bar with Bea Arthur (from the Golden Girls) which also lasts too long, but ends with a half decent song.
  4. Luke Skywalker has the most awful bowl-haircut we've ever seen.

These are just a few of the reasons Mr. Lucas was not happy with the TV special. He was reportedly quoted as saying:

"If I had the time and a sledgehammer, I would track down every copy of that show and smash it."

The one saving grace of them film is a short cartoon which officially introduces the bounty hunter Boba Fett. Regardless, the pure Star Wars fans still want to see it, just to say they've witnessed every bit of lore. Well... here you go. Watch at your own risk!
