Earlier today I found myself going through some Facebook photos from the summer and it occurred to me how lucky we are to have so many great opportunities for summertime fun here in the Casper area. After looking through the pics of my family's summer activities, I thought I'd share with you the five things that everyone should do before summer ends!

Hike to 'The Falls' at Rotary Park

    Map It!

Though we've all been there at least once, I think we often forget what a fantastic opportunity we have at Rotary Park to hop out of the car and be standing at the foot of the Garden Creek waterfall after only a five minute hike. Few photo ops compare to those found at our beloved "Falls!"

Take in a Casper Ghosts Game

    Map It!

With only a few homestands left, don't you dare miss out on this opportunity to watch pro ball in Casper! Throw the kids (or a few friends) in the car, drive down to Mike Lansing Field and enjoy a night of hometown hot dogs, home runs and Hobart the purple platypus. Check the Ghosts website for the game schedule.

    Head to Alcova

    Map It!

Whether to have a good time with the friends, a fishing trip with the family or to just get out of town for an afternoon, no summer is complete without at least one trip out to Alcova. Just be sure to remember to bring a few bucks in cash for a Sloan's ice cream cone for the ride back to town.

Take a Walk on the Platte River Parkway

    Map It!

Starting just off of Riverbend Road in Paradise Valley, the Platte River Parkway spans the entire city of Casper to end at the North Casper Soccer Complex. Whether you prefer to walk, run or ride a bike, the parkway offers miles upon miles of paved trail that suits everyone's needs. Just remember to keep that dog on a leash!

    Go Camping!

    Map It!

No matter where you live in Casper, you are only 20 minutes from several outstanding campgrounds on Casper Mountain. Whether you prefer Beartrap Meadow, Skunk Hollow or Deer Haven, there is more than enough room for everyone to enjoy some fresh mountain air. So, what are you waiting for? Throw some drinks in the cooler, grab a bag of marshmallows and head up the hill!
