How far are we going back this week? Waaaayyyy back! We're going all the way back to 1989, known as the Golden Age of Hip-Hop. Back then, there was only one major label really putting out big acts on a regular basis and that was Def Jam, the home of such legends as The Beastie Boys, Run DMC, LL Cool J & Slick Rick. Enter 3rd Bass.

3rd Bass was a three man crew made of MC Serch, Pete Nice, & DJ Richie Rich. Their debut "The Cactus Album" was critically acclaimed and went gold (500,000 units sold). It contained their first hit, "The Gas Face". The video had a myriad of cameo appearances of that time periods comedy and rap stars including Gilbert Gottfried, Flavor Flav, Salt-n-Pepa, and Erick Sermon. The video was also in heavy rotation on the hit television show, "YO! MTV Raps".

The Gas Face is a classic and still one of my all time favorites.
