Throwback Thursday is taking it back to the West Coast this week with one of the many N.W.A. legends, the late great Eazy-E. Eazy was born Eric Wright in Compton, CA and was a focal member in starting N.W.A. He passed away at age 31 from complications from the AIDS virus.

Eazy, along with fellow emcees, Dr. Dre, MC Ren, Ice Cube and DJ Yella, became known as N.W.A. They found a nitch in what would be called "Ganster Rap" that had never really been touched on before, at least as far as the mainstream music industry goes.

Eazy's first album Eazy-Duz-It included the single "We Want Eazy". This video will always be in my favorites for the way a video screen shows Eazy performing behind bars at a concert and then jumping through the screen to show up live. A fairly "eazy" effect to pull off now, but in 1986, it seemed like magic to me.

R.I.P. to the Godfather of Gangster Rap: Eazy E.
