It's Christmas in July June for live music-lovers! Back in May, a $400 million class action lawsuit was settled by Ticketmaster, the popular event ticketing company, over the claim that it had been wrongfully charging exorbitant fees to consumers purchasing tickets on its web site. As of June 18, the company has begun to pay out via free event vouchers and discount codes. And if you've used Ticketmaster to purchase at least one ticket between October 21, 1999 and February 27, 2013, you probably have a few sitting in your account right now.

Affecting roughly 50 million customers, the settlement aims to pay back ticket purchasers who have been overcharged over a span of more than a decade. Last month, emails under the subject line "Schlesinger v. Ticketmaster Class Action Settlement – Notice Regarding Discount and Ticket Codes" began going out, alerting users of the lawsuit, which was filed in California Superior Court.

To check if you have any discount codes or free ticket vouchers, just sign into your Ticketmaster account and check for "Active Vouchers" in your account. There are three types of rewards you may receive as part of the settlement: Discount Codes, to be applied towards future ticket purchases; UPS Discount Codes, to be applied towards future UPS shipping charges when purchasing physical tickets; and Ticket Vouchers, to be redeemed for up to two free tickets for qualifying events.

However, if you're viewing your account on a mobile browser, you may not see the "View Active Vouchers" link unless you access Ticketmaster's page in desktop mode.

Unfortunately, vouchers can only be redeemed for eligible events, which have yet to be indicated on the Ticketmaster web site. You can find out more information about the settlement here.
