WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO 6 PM

MST TUESDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RIVERTON HAS ISSUED A WINTER

STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOWFALL AND BLOWING SNOW...WHICH IS IN

EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO 6 PM MST TUESDAY. THE WINTER

STORM WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

* SUMMARY AND TIMING...NORTH WINDS WILL INCREASE THIS AFTERNOON

AND SNOW WILL BEGIN TO FALL AROUND SUNSET THIS EVENING. PERIODS

OF MODERATE SNOW AND STRONG WIND WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE DAY

ON TUESDAY BEFORE TAPERING OFF TUESDAY EVENING.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...3 TO 7 INCHES WITH HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE

IN SOUTH CASPER...AND IN THE GREEN MOUNTAINS AND RATTLESNAKE

RANGE. 10 TO 13 INCHES OF SNOW ARE POSSIBLE ON CASPER MOUNTAIN.

* WIND AND VISIBILITY...NORTH WIND WILL INCREASE THROUGH THE

AFTERNOON WITH SUSTAINED WINDS OF 20 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS AROUND

45 MPH POSSIBLE LATE TONIGHT THROUGH MID MORNING ON TUESDAY.

PERIODS OF LIGHT TO MODERATE SNOW WITH AREAS OF BLOWING SNOW

WILL DROP VISIBILITY BELOW ONE MILE FOR SEVERAL HOURS LATE

TONIGHT AND INTO TUESDAY. WIND CHILLS WILL BE NEAR 20 BELOW ZERO

AT TIMES.

* IMPACTS...SNOWFALL WILL CREATE SNOW PACKED ROADWAYS RESULTING IN

CONSIDERABLE TRAVEL IMPACTS...INCLUDING AREAS OF INTERSTATE 25.

WINDY CONDITIONS WILL CREATE LOW VISIBILITY AND LOW WIND CHILLS

TONIGHT AND TUESDAY WHICH COULD BE DEADLY TO NEWBORN LIVESTOCK

AND COULD CAUSE FROST BITE TO HUMANS AND ANIMALS WHO ARE LEFT

EXPOSED TO THE CONDITIONS FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME.
