The Wyoming Department of Transportation on Thursday blasted a boulder which had been looming over the highway through the Wind River Canyon.

This video, posted by Dennis Nierzwicki on YouTube, shows the explosion.

U.S. Highway 20 was closed for about two hours while crews blasted away a large rock above the road. WYDOT officials said previously that they wanted the rock down before winter.

The closure, about 16 miles south of Thermopolis, was set for about two hours Thursday.

Drivers were told to expect 15-minute delays through Friday as workers prepared for the blast, then cleanup.
