For a second consecutive Saturday the Wyoming Cowboys will go through a major scrimmage as spring practice continues in Laramie.

This closed scrimmage will be used as a major evaluation for the team, even more so than next week’s Spring Game according to head coach Craig Bohl. The Wyoming staff is hoping to have a better understanding of their depth chart and get a good look at young players on the roster.

Bohl called Thursday’s 11th session a mixed bag. He’s hoping to increase the workload for the Pokes Saturday compared to last week’s scrimmage. Bohl was also asked about injuries, the offensive line, defensive line and more.

Injuries have played a major factor for the Cowboys this spring. They have just two healthy running backs in senior Nico Evans and sophomore Mike Green II. Junior receiver Austin Conway failed to finish practice on Thursday. In addition, veterans like Andrew Wingard, Youhanna Ghaifan and Logan Wilson will not participate in Saturday’s scrimmage.

This will conclude week four of spring practice. Week five will include practices on Tuesday and Thursday with the annual Spring Game being the final session at 2 p.m. on April 21 in War Memorial Stadium. The Spring Game is open to the public.
