The national travel site Thrillist recently published an article listing "22 American Foods You've Never Had". Among their choices for the best rare regional foods in the country is a popular Wyoming dish called 'Pitchfork Fondue'.

Indigenous to Wyoming, Idaho and the Dakotas, Pitchfork Fondue takes cowboy cookouts to the next level. The process involves skewering meat on a pitchfork and then cooking it in a giant vat of lard.

What's even better than meat on a stick? Try deep-fried meat skewered on a pitchfork. Sure, it'll take years off your life, but it's worth it.

And nobody does it better than the folks at the Pitchfork Fondue Cowboy Cookout in Pinedale, Wyoming. Every summer at the Pinedale Rodeo Grounds, the cowbell rings and locals gather for a truly unique western dinner

Not only do they fry up juicy steaks onsite, the cooks at Pitchfork Fondue also make their own potato chips and fondue dipping sauces. They also serve soups and salad at supper time and, who knows, you might even get a side of Frog Eye Salad for dessert. Check 'em out at PitchforkFondue.com.
