The dramatics surrounding Zayn Malik's long-ago departure from massive money maker One Direction ensured his forthcoming debut album would be hyped to high heaven, if only because fans and music critics alike are eager to understand what it really means for Zayn to finally live his musical truth. Sadly, the former boy bander has remained largely tight-lipped about the album's details, but he's finally given us one tiny nugget of pertinent information: the title.

Zayn's debut body of solo work will be called -- wait for it -- Mind of Mine and is set for a release later this year via RCA records. The album is set to have "17 or 18" songs on it, according to an interview Zayn did with Zane Lowe for Apple Beats 1 Radio.

The rest of the interview proved just as revealing: Zayn says he collaborated on a track with R&B artist Kehlani, and went on to name a number of song titles, the most interesting of which is "It's You," a song said to be about the dissolution of his relationship with former fiancee Perrie Edwards.

A significant portion of the chat was, of course, dedicated to his time with One Direction. Despite a slew of unsavory comments he's made to the press in the past (namely that the group's music was "generic as f---k," he didn't buy the new album and that he no longer speaks to the rest of the guys), Zayn had some kind things to say this time around, noting (finally!) that while he "never really wanted to be" in One Direction, it was not akin to torture.

"That was amazing, I did that for five years, I enjoyed it. We had some of the best times ever," he said, noting that his solo material is an entity entirely separate from his time in the group. "This is something for me. This is the music I grew up listening to, these are the influences I had and this is what I have to say."

Driving the point home, Zayn continued, "Understand that I appreciated that, they're just two completely separate things."

We'll get a chance to hear just how separate they are when Zayn's debut single "Pillow Talk" drops (FINALLY, mercifully) tomorrow (January 29).
