‘Zero Dark Thirty’ Gets a New TV Spot Just in Time for All That Oscar Talk
'Zero Dark Thirty' is one of the most anticipated films of the year, and we hardly need a new TV spot to get us more pumped for Kathryn Bigelow's new film. But the latest spot coincides nicely with all the positive reviews coming out of this week's early critics' screening, doesn't it?
Though it only gets a limited release this Christmas and won't go wide until January, we're still incredibly stoked for Kathryn Bigelow's 'Zero Dark Thirty,' which was written by her 'Hurt Locker' scribe Mark Boal. As you'll recall, that team-up won Bigelow the Oscar for Best Picture (over ex-husband James Cameron's 'Avatar,' natch).
And now it seems that Bigelow and Boal, along with star Jessica Chastain, are gaining Oscar buzz following yesterday's critics' screenings. Peter Debruge of Variety, Drew McWeeny of HitFix, Todd McCarthy of THR, our own James Rocchi for BoxOffice, and The Playlist's Rodrigo Perez all gave 'Zero Dark Thirty' high marks, and Oscar nods seem likely.
The film follows the 10 year hunt for Osama bin Laden, who was eventually found and killed by Navy SEAL Team Six under the Obama administration. As the new TV spot indicates, we all know how the story ends, but 'Zero Dark Thirty' is going to tell us how it happened. You can find out when the film goes wide on January 11.
